Hiya. I just wanted to first make a little introduction post. Obviously, I'm the creator/maintainer of this 'ere comm. I have long been using the various comms over on LJ, and I searched and didn't see any here, so I sought to remedy that. If you make one yourself about some other area/aspect of travel, I'd be happy to include it on the info page so we can spread the word around about all the travel-y goodness! ^__^

Anyhow. About me. I'm a female, in my late 20s, American, and enjoying my new life in Europe (and hopeful to be a Belgian citizen in a handful of years). I was bitten by the travel bug early in life, probably due to the fact that every school break my parents would take me on some vacation, whether it was to visit family in the next state, or go to a theme park in sunny Florida, we went somewhere. As a teen, I started having the dream of seeing the rest of the world, outside the US, one day. I didn't fuss over it though, as I didn't really think it would ever happen, and didn't want to be let down about that! But lo & behold, here I am, living in Europe! So, since moving, I have traveled a lot (12 countries & counting!), and will continue my explorations as time goes on. There is not really anywhere in Europe that I wouldn't like to see, and really I'd like to see most of the globe! Only time will tell how far I'll get. ~_^

I think that's probably about all the "important" stuff about me, as pertains to this comm, at least. Feel free to introduce yourself in the comments, and then get posting about Europe! ^___^

Oh, "business" related notes; I will be making tags & tagging guide soon. The rules are in place on the info page, but it's pretty much your standard no-brainer stuff - don't be a dick, tag posts, ask/post relevant stuff, you all know how it goes. Suggestions are always welcome, as are questions. Don't hesitate to contact me on my own journal page with suggestions/questions/comments/anything else, too. Am I forgetting anything?? Let me know!

Wow, I live in Europe and haven't seen 12 countries so far :D (trying to count: Germany, France, Spain, Netherlands, Tunesia, Ireland, UK, USA, Belgium,... um, I think that's it).

Right now I am mainly trying to see more of my native country and I plan to visit Prague and London next year.

Okay, have just posted a very similar comment in the europe comm but I'll go with similar again. This comm sounds like a great idea. I love travelling, to the extent at which I saved madly for several years and then about 4 years ago took 10 months out of work and went backpacking (I was determined to manage it before I hit 40 - which I've just past!) I love the variety of life, food, culture, architecture and art in so many of them and it's always great to find out what other people think too. Speaking personally, I'm less of a party animal, more of a history seeker. When it comes to museums, I'd rather go to an art museum or something that's vibrant and active than a series of displays, if you know what I mean. I also love seeking out beautiful natural areas and scenery. I've developed a bit of a love of photography, so again that drives the things I like to visit - something that makes for good opportunities for playing with camera settings sounds good to me, whether it be scenery or architecture.

As for countries visited - gosh where do I start! Off the top of my head, I've been to 12 European countries (although that's including England, Wales and Scotland as 3 of them and I've only done Spanish and Portuguese Islands - not mainland) Outside Europe, I've been to 10; Kuwait, Mongolia, China, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Ecuador (including the Galapagos Islands), America and Canada, also Russia (I know that's both in Europe and Asia, but for now I'll put it here!) . And wow! I'm surprised how many that is! Some I've barely touched, just a day or two there or because they're so huge I've just done highlights or one area, others I've travelled fairly widely, most have been done in a pretty budget conscious way.

Okay, as for where I'm from - a British Island - makes me British, but not part of the EU and weird stuff like that. As for the 10 months - I'd worked for the same employer for about 15 years, so basically in the Terms of Employment, I could ask for a sabbatical type thing, no pay but time off and a 'job' to return to, it didn't have to be exactly the same job as I left.

As for making posts, sure, I don't mind sharing a little - what sort of thing would you like (can't do it right away - life is a little hectic just now, but could look to do it over the next few weeks). I took part in some voluntary work as I travelled (a way of keeping costs lower or seeing a different side of life) would that be of interest? Or would you just prefer a 'Wow! I saw/did this and I thought it was awesome' type post?
